European rigging company, Unusual Rigging has announced its expansion plans, which include the opening of a new Dubai office within the first quarter of 2009 to be headed by Alan Thomson.
Thomson, former director of PRG Europe, has joined Unusual to manage the new venture and brings with him more than 30 years experience in the provision of technical solutions within the entertainment industry.
His appointment will boost Unusual’s operations throughout the region facilitating the company’s plans for growth, which will see it offer the same services locally as it offers within its UK and European markets.
Unusual said the introduction of these facilities would align the UAE rigging industry with the rigorous standards currently operating in the UK and Europe. Unusual will focus on specialised project rigging, equipment rental and sales of rigging accessories.
Managing director of Unusual, Alan Jacobi, said the venture was a major investment for the company.
“There is no doubt that the market in the Middle East continues to grow with an increasing demand for proven expertise in temporary and permanent rigging installation projects,” he added.
“Unusual Dubai will replicate the standards we have seen during 25 years of our operations in the UK and overseas. In Thomson, we welcome a colleague of the highest integrity to run our new business. We maintain our market leading position for entertainment based rigging in the UK and our expanding strength in the UK will provide a solid support for Unusual in Dubai”
