The UAE has donated $10 million to support the activities of the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership (GNEP), a project aimed at promoting commercial use of nuclear power and accelerating and enlarging peaceful nuclear uses, official news agency WAM reported on Tuesday.

US Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman praised the UAE's contribution.

"GNEP's members are committed to the promotion of nuclear energy as a clean source of power in a way that reduces proliferation risks and nuclear waste burdens", he said in an address to the 52nd annual Iinternational Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) General Conference which opened in Vienna, Austria on Monday.
