Bahrain to build $1.7bn power plant

South Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. has won a $1.7 billion deal to build a power and desalination plant in Bahrain, the company said on Wednesday.

Hyundai Heavy Industries said the plant will generate 1,245 megawatts of power and produce 213 million litres of water a day, newswire Bloomberg reported.

It said the plant is set to be completed by mid-2011.
