Software developers aren't bound by iPhone nondisclosure agreement

Apple no longer demands that a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) be signed before downloading the iPhone software developer kit.

The decision, which was announced earlier this week, came shortly after Google’s first phone powered by the open-source Android software was launched by T-Mobile.

In a statement published on the Apple Developer Connection website, it was revealed that the NDA was put in place “… so that others don’t steal our work. It has happened before.”

Apple admitted that the NDA proved to be a burden on developers and programmers, and has dropped it only for iPhone software that has already been released. Anyone interested in working on unreleased beta versions of software will still be bound by an NDA.
