British boxer Amir Khan is in talks with senior management of Dubai Sports City to launch a boxing academy, Arabian Property magazine can reveal.
“I love sports and I’d like to do more in Dubai. I’d love to have a boxing academy and a camp here and we can promote boxing here,” Khan said in an interview.
“Boxing is as big in Dubai as it is in America. We are in talks with the CEO of Dubai Sports City.”
The former Olympic silver medallist is in Dubai to promote a new commercial tower to be built in Ajman ahead of his return to the ring, which is likely to be at London's Excel on Dec. 13.
The tower, Tejarah Executive, is a joint venture between Profile Group and Moosa Group Enterprises.
Khan told Arabian Business on Saturday he wants to fight in Dubai “some day”.
Khan will prepare for his next fight in the US under legendary trainer Freddie Roach and will spar with Manny Pacquiao, regarded by many as the world's best pound-for-pound fighter.
