RTA awards $23mn roads deal

Dubai's transport authority on Tuesday awarded an 86 million-dirham ($23.4 million) contract for the construction of roads in the Nad El Sheba area of the city.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said the project, awarded to Al Wasit Co., includes the construction of two-way roads extending 5km, a 14km road, five circular intersections, a 2km lane and a 5km bicycle track.
The RTA said it is currently undertaking construction of minor roads in a number of areas in Dubai at a cost of 1 billion dirhams, including Jumeirah and Al Barsha.
