The British Council has appointed a new regional director to oversee work in education and cultural relations in the Middle East.
Patrick Brazier has worked at the British Council for 18 years and is responsible for promoting understanding and trust between people in the Middle East and the UK, and providing opportunities for individuals.
"We work on a huge number of varied and exciting projects with our partners here in the Middle East in support of this goal and our partners' ambitions," he said.
"For instance, last year we organised a high level ‘English for the Workplace' symposium that brought together 100 influential figures from governments and key industries across the region to develop an action plan for closing the gap between education and employment. We also conducted over 100,000 exams for individuals. I am looking forward to building on those successes and to working with our partners here."
