Ben Kingsley will attend the first Arabic-dubbed screening of Gandhi during the second annual Middle East International Film Festival.
The special screening marks the first time Arabic viewers will have seen the film in their native language.
The 1982 Richard Attenborough film, which won Kingsley an Academy Award for best actor, received a total eight Oscars.
"As the principle organiser of MEIFF 2008, one of our intrinsic values is the celebration of culture," said Mohamed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, vice chairman of MEIFF and director general of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (commonly known as Mahatma Gandhi, meaning “great soul”) was a major political and spiritual leader of India and the Indian independence movement.
He was the pioneer of Satyagraha—resistance to tyranny through mass civil disobedience, firmly founded upon ahimsa or total non-violence—which led India to independence and inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world.
The MEIFF, which takes place in the UAE capital, is aiming to position itself as a regional centre for filmmaking and joining Kingsley at the event are a host of Hollywood celebs including Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, Catherine Deneuve, Antonio Banderas and Melanie Griffith.
The festival begins on Friday and runs until 19.

There is typo-error in the 14th line. Please get the great man's name right. Your spelling in the 14th line should be 'Gandhi' and not Ghandi.
