A Dubai-based adventurer has broken a Guinness World Record after he reached both the North and South Pole, and climbed Mount Everest within the world’s shortest time period.
Explorer Adrian Haye’s expeditions to the three extremes have been recognised in the recently published Guinness World Records 2009 edition, after he reached the three sites in 19 months and 3 days.
Hayes is only the fifteenth person in the world to reach all three extreme locations.
He reached Mount Everest on May 25, 2006, the North Pole on April 25, 2007 after a 50 day trek from Ward Hunt Island, Canada, and the South Pole on 28 Dec 2007, after a 47 day trek from Hercules Inlet, Antarctica.
Hayes, who is in his late 40's, said in a statement on Wednesday he had not intended to break any records when he set out for the expeditions.
“Each adventure alone is a huge challenge and success rates are pitifully low, particularly for the North Pole. I'm just fortunate it all came together, but it took about five years of hard work and planning to make it happen,” he said.
Hayes has raised over 200,000 for the Children's Hope Foundation and Friends of Cancer Patients Charities, with his next expedition a south to north crossing of Greenland in November.

Im guessing you people are blind.
I believe that this adventure was sponsered by Dubai Based Companies and and I Wouldn't think they would pay this much of money so in the end Dubai name wont be published.
and 2nd thing, Its Clearly said Dubai Based. DUBAI BASED
Dear Posters,
Let me teach you what Dubai Based means, It means He lives in Dubai, Doesn't mean if he is British have to say Like a British Man, He lives in Dubai not in UK.
Grow up and stop complaining about editors. they know what to write and how to write

I agree with the Observer - the chap's a Brit wherever he chooses to live. By analogy, let's not slap the "Dubai resident" sticker on all those expats at the lower end of the glamour scale who make it all possible, but are otherwise systematically disowned by the system...

What do you mean "Dubai" adventurer? the gentleman is British, I guess, and in such reports we refer first to the person's nationality and not to where he is based. but it's just another try to stick the name "Dubai" to something it doesn't own, for the sake of (fake) publicity.
Good job for Adrian.
