The detention of former Deyaar chief executive Zack Shahin could be extended until the prosecution has completed its investigation, Dubai’s attorney general has said.
“We will take the necessary time to get our hands on all possible evidence and necessary internal and external audit reports,” Issam Eissa Al Humaidan was quoted as saying by UAE daily Khaleej Times.
“We may seize assets, extend detention or even release the suspects during the investigation. No case can be referred to the court before completion of investigation, including gathering of evidence and interrogation of witnesses.”
The detention of Shahin, who is under investigation for alleged financial irregularities, was extended for the sixth time by another 30 days on Sunday, the newspaper reported on Thursday.
