SPAN Group has completed an assignment for Home Centre, installing a range of material handling equipment at the retailer’s warehouse in Bahrain.

The facility, which is designed to accommodate 15,000 different products, has been equipped with a multi-tier racking system over three storage levels. The ground and first floors are designated for the storage of large items while the second level is reserved for smaller items. The system can also be extended with a further tier to support further growth in the future.

“Our business has grown during the last years. As a result, we have outgrown our current facility’s capabilities. Our new 5680m2 warehouse will permit our continued growth for the next several years, as well as allow us to improve our service level,” said Mathew Simon, deputy general manager of Home Centre.

“We are very pleased with the quality of service SPAN Group has provided us. The company has offered its assistance from the planning phases through to final execution and we look forward to their support in the future.”

Apart from the storage system, SPAN also supplied material handling equipment encompassing electric stand-on stackers and pallet trucks, which have been manufactured by German brand Jungheinrich.

“Home Centre’s initial requirement was to store different sizes and awkward shaped items under one roof, keeping a high level of organisation and service,” explained Masum Halari, deputy account manager, SPAN Group. “Our solution was specifically designed for the storage of furniture and allowed bulky items to be neatly stored and easily accessible.”
