UAE expats and foreign nationals living in the UAE are predicting a rosy future for the country's economy.

According to the results of a survey conducted by DSL Exhibitions, 62 per cent of property buyers in the UAE were positive about region's economic future over the next 20 years and 58 per cent of non-property buyers in the UAE were also positive.

The survey garnered the views of 173 UAE property buyers and 173 non-UAE property buyers, reported Emirates Business on Monday.

Despite uncertainty in the property market, 62 per cent of property owners in the UAE said they want to live and work in the UAE for all their productive years.

And 78 percent of respondents said they felt a sense of belonging in their adopted country.

Tessa Morris, marketing director, DSL Exhibitions, told the paper: "Clearly, real estate ownership has no impact on the respondents' opinion about the country's financial prospects, which remains positive across the spectrum of those polled."

She added: "UAE properties have been open for investment to expats for several years now and several tens of thousands of foreigners are now living in their own homes in the country – a stark contrast to 10 years back where every expat had to rent."

The Truth Shall Set You Free!

Shocking piece of journalism. This is the kind of thing that makes people nervous that sections of society have their head in the sand! Now is not a time for journalists to stick their heads in the sand and feed the public rubbish. Now is the time to take honest stock of the situation, dust ourselves down from the carnage and make sure we trust that those who make decisions in the city are wel-appraised of the realities of the situation. Lies and spin are more destructive than the truth could ever be. It's time for Dubai to be more self confident

Cityscape is run by IIR, but DSL also produce a number of Property and Realty shows, so they are hardly going project a negative view of the market.

Cityscape is run by IIR, not DSL Exhibitions.

Paul- I'm afraid the spin machine is out in force again. Local publications across the board have been told to tone down negative coverage of Dubai and the UAE generally. It's disappointing but don't expect to see realistic and objective copy on the extraordinary events unfolding anytime soon -even from this site.
