RIM sets plan to support carrier partners

HEALTHY ECOSYSTEM: BlackBerry owner RIM intends to liaise with its third party solution providers at Gulfcomms.

For Research in Motion (RIM), the company that owns BlackBerry, being at GITEX Technology Week this year is all about supporting its partners in the UAE.

According to the company, RIM is proud to be at GITEX and will support partners Etisalat and Du in promoting their latest BlackBerry smartphone offerings at the show.

"Dubai and the GCC are very strategic areas of development for our company and we look forward to expanding our business in the UAE and the Middle East," said Khaled Kefel, director of sales for the Middle East at RIM.

"Last quarter, we reported a record 16 million BlackBerry users, with 33% of those outside North America. The Europe, Middle East and Africa region continues to be an important part of our expanding footprint,"According to Kefel, RIM considers GITEX to be an excellent opportunity to showcase some of the software, applications and programmes available for BlackBerry smartphones.

The BlackBerry Alliance Programme brings together 725 leading independent software vendors and niche players offering third-party applications and services to help users get more out of their BlackBerry smartphones.

"BlackBerry has a healthy ecosystem with third-party solution providers to deliver thousands of applications.

"We plan to have many of those partners on our stand," adds Kefel.

RIM was founded in 1984 and its flagship BlackBerry has become indispensable for businesses and consumers. The company has an impressive global footprint with over 325 carrier partners making the BlackBerry solution available in over 140 countries. One of the fastest growing regions for RIM remains the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
