The third annual UAE National Robot Olympiad has now come to a close with 61 teams from private and government schools competing for top honours.
In the end, Our Own High School - Al Warqa’a emerged victorious in both the Regular and Open categories by solving a set of problems using mechanical parts most effectively.
The winning team was presented with a gold trophy and certificates, and will now represent the UAE at the World Robot Olympiad 2008, which will be in Japan from October 31 - November 2, 2008.
“The large number of participants in this year’s ‘UAE National Robotics Olympiad’ reiterates the growing interest of students and schools in the UAE in robotics as well as their appreciation for the highly challenging but enjoyable processes involved in creating robot prototypes,” said Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al-Khaili, director general of Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC).
The 2008 UAE National Robot Olympiad was hosted by ADEC and supported by Edutech Middle East and LEGO Education.
