Kuwait dealer goes for luxury surroundings

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Friday, 17 October 2008
Pot plants, machinery and vehicles... One dealer has made a showroom ‘luxurious’.

A plush new showroom will be home to Bobcat machines as the Bahrah Trading Company completes a refit.

General manager Steve Shaw said: "Bobcat is the jewel in our crown. In our brief to the designers of the new showroom, we wanted to create a truly luxurious environment for our customers to come and view Bobcat products.

We wanted get as far away from the normal situation - an outdoors compound with visitors and machines having to endure dirty and hot conditions."

According to the company, the air-conditioned Bahrah showroom is being regularly visited after hours by Kuwaiti businessmen and their families, who can all sit on comfy sofas and have a coffee and a cool drink, whilst discussing buying equipment.

Bahrah Trading Company has been a Bobcat dealer since 1995 and Mr Shaw has been in charge for the last six years. He believes that aftersales support is the key to securing repeat sales in the Kuwait market.

"Everything we sell is accompanied by a trainer to help the customer when they first get the equipment. It is very hard to maintain a first class aftersales business in Kuwait. Everybody has a workshop and there is a lot of self servicing going on," he said.

Steve Shaw concluded: "With these developments, we intend to raise safety levels for operators throughout Kuwait.

We are also aiming to offer around the clock support if the customer wants it and replacement machines, so that off-site maintenance can take place."
