RMJM landscape division Strata has appointed Adrian Matthews as associate director for its regional operations.
Previously with Sharjah-based landscape practice Shankland Cox, Matthews is to work on the firm’s growing portfolio of assignments in the Middle East.
He will report to Strata’s design director Viraj Chatterjee.
“We’re really pleased to have someone of Adrian’s calibre join us in the Middle East office,” said Chatterjee. “Strengthening our Middle East presence demonstrates our confidence in the region. The Middle East provides stimulating design challenges and opportunities with its unique climatic conditions and some of the world’s most innovative developers and clients.”
Strata, a division of architecture firm RMJM, unveiled in May its intention to grow its operations in the UAE.
Projects the firm is working on in the region include Nakheel’s Palm Jebel Ali Hub, the Al Ain masterplan of Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company, and the Cayan’s Silverene Dubai Marina.
The Dubai-based design team will work closely with the 20-strong design division at Strata’s head office in Hong Kong, the firm said.
