A new wages watchdog could be established in Bahrain to track salaries and ensure they increase in line with inflation.
The formation of a Wage Council is one of a number of measures being discussed at a conference on salaries, which was opened on Saturday by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.
Labour Minister Dr Majeed Al Alawi said the body would monitor salaries of both expats and Bahrainis in the private and public sectors, Gulf Daily News reported on Sunday.
He told the paper: "It would survey and register the change in prices and standard of living and the response of the private sector."
The measure is expected to be among recommendations issued at the end of the conference on Sunday.
