Sharjah-based budget airline Air Arabia on Monday announced it will fly all passengers for free on Oct. 28 to mark its fifth anniversary.
The airline said anyone booking a flight from Monday for Oct. 28 will get it for free, while anyone who has already booked a flight for that day will have their money refunded.
People booking flights for Oct. 28 will have to pay for their return journey on a different day.
Air Arabia flies to 45 destinations in the Middle East and Asia, including destinations in all six Gulf states, Egypt, Lebanon and India.
“It is the least we can do in recognition of the people who have been flying with us for the last five years,” Air Arabia CEO Adel Ali told reporters.
Ali would not say how much the promotion is likely to cost the airline.
Air Arabia said it has flown 10 million passengers in the last five years. The airline said its capital now stood at 4.66 billion dirhams ($1.27 billion), up from 50 million dirhams when it launched operations.
Air Arabia said it has 44 Airbus A320s on order to be delivered from 2010.
Ali said the airline is in talks with banks about financing its new aircraft orders, without elaborating.

A succesful marketing strategy."Passengers will have to pay for their return journey on a different day".Clearly, consumers are fooled to believe that there is a free lunch,NO WAY!Air Arabia, will take advantage of passengers buying one way tickets which are almost as expensive as round-trip tickets.Air Arabia, will definatly profit with this plan.Consumers fooled,AGAIN!

Amazing! I wish all airlines will do the same when it's their anniversary. Congratulations to Air Arabia.
