Wallet watch

Souq.com's MyWallet is a "very sophisticated system kept very simple". Our man from Souq.com tells WINDOWS:

"As a buyer, I can replenish my wallet in a number of ways: from my credit card, using pre-paid net shopping cards like CashU, adding funds via direct e-debit from Emirates Bank or the National Bank of Dubai etc., making a bank transfer, or I can even come in person to Souq's Dubai office. MyWallet is very discrete too, in that it doesn't expose a user's banking details to their buyer or seller counterpart. We don't even see the credit card information, only the bank's gateway has access to this."

Souq standout listings

Some of the weird offerings uploaded onto Souq.com to date...

A used car with all gold trim: rims, grill, mirrors and more.

Cool Ferrari bundle: a F430 sports car with the number plate F430

A goat featuring with a map of KSA on its back (this item was taken off the site due to its violating Souq's listing rules and regulations)

First-gen Apple iPhones (just two weeks after their US release)

Rhombus' fully-automated robot vacuum cleaner - "Lift your legs please, coming through..."

Goods to sell? Read on...

Souq.com's product selling process runs like this...

A user must first register an account (click ‘Join Now' at the top-right of the homepage).

Start to create your first listing by clicking Sell (top menu bar).

Pick a product category and sub-category (get this right - it will help surfers find your listing).

Select the listing format: will you allow buyers to bid in an auction? Set-up an auction with a reserve-price linked Buy Now option, or maybe a 100% Buy Now sale (for new items only)?

Write a short, descriptive title and a full, readable item description (HTML to relevant vendor product pages etc. is permitted).

BE AWARE: As with eBay, a bid on an auction sale, or indeed a 'buy' decision for a non-auction/fixed price item is legally binding. So be sure before you click.
