Abu Dhabi has awarded US-based Aecom Technology Corp. a $210 million contract to provide programme management services for the Cultural District of Saadiyat Island.

The Tourism Development and Investment Co. (TDIC) said on Tuesday it has signed a five-year agreement with Aecom, under which the company will create an electronic programme management system that allows real-time project tracking across all TDIC developments.

"This alliance will deliver optimum cost-effectiveness, heightened responsiveness and greater contractor accountability," Lee Tabler, TDIC CEO, said in a statement.

Saadiyat Island is a natural island lying just offshore from the city of Abu Dhabi.

The Cultural District is to be home to the world's single largest concentration of cultural institutions including the Sheikh Zayed National Museum, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi and the Louvre Abu Dhabi.
