More than 1,800 die in incidents this year

More than 1,800 people were killed in the UAE during the first eight months of the year in various road accidents, fires and other incidents, a health official said in comments published on Sunday.

Dr. Ali Al-Numairi, head of the plastic surgery section at the Emirates Medical Association, said 1,846 lives were lost in 3,131 incidents, reported UAE daily Gulf News.

Speaking at the launch of the second National Burns Week in Dubai, Al-Numairi said there were 1,777 fires reported during the period, in which 35 people died and 146 were injured.
