Starwood Hotels and Resorts and Al Muttahed Co have opened three of the eight towers in the new Le Méridien hotel in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

The further five towers are scheduled to open by the end of 2009. Four of the eight towers will be an ‘all suites' hotel, with the remaining four sold as vacation ownership by Al Muttahed.

With 165 suites in each tower, the hotel will offer a total of 1320 suites, including executive, diplomatic and royal suites.

All suites are designed by Richmond International in London, inspired by a combination of classic and modern design with Islamic touches.

Two speciality restaurants providing Moroccan and Asian cuisine are already up and running, with a third restaurant offering Gulf specialties scheduled to open in the coming year.

The hotel provides easy access to holy places in Mecca such as Mena, Muzdalifah and Arafat.
