SOLACE STAR: The new James Bond film will feature in the UAE's open-air movie festival.

An open-air cinema festival, due to take place in Dubai and Abu Dhabi during November and December, has unveiled its star-studded line-up.

Hydra Open Air Cinema UAE 2008 will be spread across 12 days each in the two cities and will feature a host of premieres and pre-premieres handpicked from across the globe, including the new James Bond movie The Quantum of Solace.

Scheduled to take place from November 10-21 in Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai and from December 1-12 at the Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, the festival will offer a wide range of films from the Russian epic Mongol to the quintessential British classic The Duchess.

Swiss OpenAir Concept, the creators of the concept, will be bringing the largest ever patented mobile hydraulic screen technology just for the event.

The 4,000 square feet screen will be boosted by 32 speaker digital surround sound.

"As this will be the first time that the UAE has witness a cinema event of this magnitude, we wanted to ensure that no one among the movie-loving populace of the UAE feels left out or hard done, and have selected nothing but the best," said Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim, the CEO of event sponsors Hydra Properties.

More than 2,000 people are expected to attend each event, he added.

I have been living in the UAE for two years now and am pleasantly surprised at the number of cultural and live events the country is now starting to host. I really feel the quality of living has been enriched by events like this. Lets hope residents come out to enjoy.
