Drivers who bank with Sharjah Islamic Bank can now withdraw cash without even leaving the comfort of their car thanks to a new 'drive-thru' ATM.

The lender said on Saturday the new ATM is located on Lake Khalid in Sharjah near the Holiday Inn International Hotel.

The location was chosen to make the ATM available to the maximum number of customers, both drivers and pedestrians, it said.

The bank said one side of the ATM caters to drivers with a 'drive-thru' course, while the other side provides a traditional cash-point for pedestrians.

Qassem AlBloushi, head of e-channels at Sharjah Islamic Bank, said in a statement the new service had been met with an "enthusiastic reception" from its customers.
