Tecom Investments has taken part in a retrofit pilot project for a waterless urinal system from Renewed Lighting Solutions. Two Kalahari models were installed into the management bathrooms of Tecom at Dubai Internet City.
Director of the Sustainability Energy and Environment Division (SEED) of Tecom Ali Bin Towaih reported: "This initiative comes as a part of our conservation programme that was launched last year with the aim of reducing water consumption by 30%. Sustainable development promotes the use of resources to meet our needs without depriving those of the future generations."
The Waterless No-Flush Urinals have the same appearance as regular fixtures and are connected to the standard waste lines; however they do not require the flush water supply lines.
Renewed Lighting Solutions reports that Tecom will make cost savings of 53.25% using the Waterless No-Flush Urinal compared to regular urinals. The urinals also allow possible credit of up to three LEED points.
