British PM Gordon Brown revealed on Monday that his country has signed an agreement with Abu Dhabi to develop technologies for low-carbon-emitting energy.
Brown said a memorandum of understanding had been inked between Masdar, the renewable energy arm of the Abu Dhabi government, and Britain, Bloomberg reported.
He announced the initiative during a conference on Monday in Abu Dhabi, during the third day of his tour of the Middle East.
Low carbon energy includes wind, wave and solar power, power plants that capture and storage carbon dioxide and energy efficient buildings.
Brown has already visited Qatar and Saudi Arabia. He was welcomed to the UAE by Gen. Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development and Edward Oakden, UK Ambassador to UAE.
