British Prime Minister Gordon Brown will be in Dubai on Tuesday where he will meet with senior members of the royal family and visit the emirate’s financial centre, according to the British Embassy.
Brown is on the final day of a four-day tour of the Gulf, during which he has stopped off in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.
Brown is leading a high-level British business and ministerial delegation to Gulf to seek investment, help on oil prices and funds for the IMF.
Brown will arrive at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) in the afternoon where he will take part in two events, embassy spokesperson Simon Goldsmith told Arabian Business.
Goldsmith said the first event is a business to business meeting between UK businesses and senior Emirati representatives of major companies and organisations in Dubai.
The objectives of the meeting are an exchange of views on the effects of the credit crunch, future investment strategies, opportunities under the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015 and innovation and entrepreneurship, he said.
The second event is organised by the UAE chapter of the Young Arab Leaders, during which Brown will meet with DIFC governor Omar bin Sulaiman and address the Young Arab Leaders and British business groups, he said.
Goldsmith said Brown would announce at the meeting that the next Young Arab Leaders would take place in the UK in 2009.
Brown arrived in the UAE on Monday and spent the day in Abu Dhabi, where he met with UAE President Khalifa bin Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahyan and other senior government and business figures.
