Kuwaiti development company Mayadeen has officially launched its US $450 million (AED1.6 billion) Aurora project to be built on Al Reen Island in Shams Abu Dhabi.
The project is made up of two 53 storey residential towers, a 14 storey commercial tower, a canal promenade with retail space, and a 12-storey parking lot.
Mayadeen CEO Naser Ali Attar said the initial phase of shoring and piling work is complete and the company is currently in preparation for the second phase, which will include the foundation structure and MEP work.
In June Mayadeen signed with five contractors to work on the project.
Beijing Construction Engineering Group won the main construction contract, Cansult Maunsell are the project managers, Emirates Technical Associates will provide MEP, Yuanda Enterprise Group is the facade contractor and RW Armstrong is the construction supervisor.
Attar said Al Reem Island was chosen as the location for the project because it represents a promising investment opportunity.
"According to a number of industry reports, the demand for residential units in Abu Dhabi is far higher than the supply, which is constantly on the increase," he said.
