Spa development and management company Spatality has entered the Middle East market, where it will be headed up by director of special projects Shamira Mitha, also director of Natural Elements Spa & Fitness at Le Méridien Dubai.
"Right now I'm looking after the whole of the MENA region. As soon as our projects start we will have the operational teams on board," said Mitha, adding that Spatality will only take on a project if it can also manage it.
Mitha revealed that Spatality has designed spa brands for new Le Méridien hotels and Sheraton properties globally, details of which are expected to be announced by the year end.
"We have quite a few projects coming up, including a very prestigious one in India," she added.
"Also for a very large hotel group we've developed a very yuppie spa brand, where people can literally have champagne in the lounges," said Mitha.
Spatality was founded in 2007 by industry gurus Ingo Schweder, who developed the Mandarin Oriental spa brand, Elaine Fernard, famous for launching the Starwood Spa Collection, and Richard Dusseau, CEO of feasibility company Spastrategy.
