Omnix wins AED 1 million CAD project

Omnix International has won a one million dirham ($272,000) contract to supply computer aided design services from Al Futtaim Carillion (AFC) for projects in the Dubai Motor City development.

Omnix are providing design services based on Autodesk’s Revit solutions, which will speed design time, and provide greater integration between different departments working on the project.

Dubai Motor City, is large scale community development, consisting of a number of different developments. AFC, a construction company joint venture, is using the Autodesk services to speed up the design process, provide better co-ordination between architects and structural engineers, allow real time updates to plans and provide reports and insight for key decision makers.

Omnix has also produced a number of 3D models of different parts of the project, that allow greater insight into the overall plan.

Andrew Piechowiak, principle design manager, Dubai Motor City, commented: “With the move to Autodesk Revit building information modeling platform, we are looking at an improvement in productivity in as much as four to six weeks off drawing production.”

“In addition, we are also seeing the advantages the new software applications are providing the quantity surveying department in finalizing quantities faster and more accurately. This presents us with an enormous advantage to speed up our processes, thereby shortening the production cycles while producing higher quality documentation and improving our efficiency,” he added.

Dr Jayant M Deshpande, director of Omnix’s CAD Division said: “By adopting Autodesk Revit Architecture and Revit Structure, the Dubai Motor City project can now be viewed from a single, integrated digital model that contains all project information. The advantages of these solutions have really impressed Al Futtaim Carillion, who especially commended the cutbacks on the duration of their processes and the quality and reliability of information. We are truly proud of Omnix’s involvement with the construction of this prestigious project.”
