Multiplex braced for vanity-fuelled growth

by ArabianBusiness.com staff writer  on Tuesday, 11 November 2008
ADNANI: Power retailer relationships key to growth.

Dubai-based FMCG and cosmetic products distributor Multiplex International LLC has targeted 30% growth for its business this year and 40% in 2009, after establishing "power retailer partnerships" across the UAE and Oman.

The targets are expected to be hit through strategic marketing initiatives across those markets, in which the company currently offers a strong portfolio of world-renowned brands, including Essence and Corine De Farme.

Vinod Adnani, founder and managing director of Multiplex International LLC, said that despite the credit crunch, the retail industry in the region continues to grow due to the opening of several mega malls.

"We are leveraging on this growth opportunity to achieve our targeted growth of 30% this financial year. Multiplex has formed strong partnerships in the region, and has strengthened its in-mall store concept further," he said.

"Through these power retailing initiatives, we have been able to sustain our growth momentum by offering quality FMCG and cosmetic products at competitive rates," he added.

With more than 100 employees, Multiplex International works with retailers including Dubai Duty Free, Carrefour, Auchan and Spinneys.

The company boasts an 11,000ft² warehousing facility in Dubai's Al Quoz, 5,000ft² of which is fully air-conditioned to store climate-sensitive products including colour cosmetics, skincare products, creams and lotions. According to Adnani, increasing health and beauty care awareness has upped sales of skincare products.

"The demand for FMCG products and cosmetics is staggered through the year, with sunscreen lotions and creams hugely sought-after in the summer months," he added.
