Barwa launches mixed-used project

Qatar-based developer Barwa Real Estate Co. said on Monday it planned to build a 1.5 billion-riyal ($412 million) mixed-use project 10 kilometres south of Doha International Airport.
The company said in a filing on the Doha bourse that Barwa Village would include residential and retail elements and house around 13,000 residents.
Barwa said 1.046 billion riyals had been allocated for construction works and 520 million riyals for infrastructure works and services.
The project will be completed by 2010, it said.
Barwa on Nov. 2 launched a 35 billion-riyal development in Al-Khor, north of the capital Doha, in partnership with Kuwait's Al-Imtiaz Investment Co.
