Mercedes-Benz Middle East and Levant has reported that it delivered 1,567 vehicles in October, as regional sales continued to buck the global downward trend.
Despite the financial crisis affecting automotive markets worldwide, sales for the first 10 months of 2008 reached 16,423, nearly 20 per cent higher than for the same period last year.
“With increased sales and increased market share among our nearest German competitors, there is obviously still strong demand for our vehicles,” said Frank Bernthaler, director, Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars, Middle East and Levant.
In a bid to build on this, the Mercedes-Benz distributor said it will be offering special Middle East versions of the ML-Class and the region’s most popular luxury sedan, the S-Class, this month.
“Despite the apparent global gloom in the automotive market, we know our customers are confident in the strength of Middle East economies and that this confidence, along with the resilience of our distributors, we help us reach a new annual sales record,” added Bernthaler.
