Dubai Airports: No decision yet on Terminal 4

Dubai Airports is looking into building a fourth terminal at Dubai International Airport, but no decision has yet been made, the airports operator said following comments by its CEO that a fourth terminal is in the pipeline.

Dubai Airports "is now reviewing its various properties within the airport for future expansion, with the possibility of building a fourth terminal", the company said in a statement to Arabian Business.

"As of now, discussions are ongoing but no decision has yet been made."

CEO Paul Griffiths said in comments published on Nov. 12 that plans for Terminal 4 had begun and extensions would be made to newly-opened Terminal 3.

"It won't come as a surprise to know that not only have we got concourse three rising out of the ground already, but we are already planning Terminal 4," Griffiths was quoted as saying by UAE daily Emirates Business.

Dubai International Airport opened its $4.5 billion Terminal 3, for the sole use of Emirates, on Oct. 14 with flights to the Gulf and the Americas.

The fourth and final phase of Terminal 3's opening took place on Nov. 11, with Emirates transferring flights to the Indian subcontinent, East Asia and Australasia.
