RTA approves firms to supply 1,616 buses

Dubai's transport authority said on Saturday it had approved five companies to supply 1,616 buses at a cost of 8.6 billion dirhams ($2.34 billion).
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said the deal would boost the number of buses on Dubai's roads to 2,500 by next year.
The RTA said the new buses comprised of standard, double-deckers and articulated buses.
The deal is the biggest bus procurement ever made, the RTA claimed.
