Kuwaiti production firm Beyond Dreams and Saudi-owned MBC Group have teamed up to produce an Arabic film titled The Circle, scripted by Masood Amralla Al Ali and directed by Nawaf Al Janahi.
Shot on the Canon XL H1 entry level HD camera, the team hopes the film will be completed in time for screening at Dubai International Film Festival.
“In any case, we hope to release it in December across the Gulf region,” claimed Abdullah Boushahri, owner of Beyond Dreams. “This market has a very limited audience and in the past ten years, Khaleeji films haven’t made much money. We believe, therefore, that the best way to enter this market is to try a low-budget, yet good film. An independent film gives us the chance to gauge the audience and see how the market reacts to Khaleeji films.
An investment of US $500,000 has gone into making this movie.
