Security software vendor Kaspersky Lab has set up base in the Middle East by opening an office in Dubai Internet City.
“The opening of our first Middle East entity will be a pivotal milestone for the Kaspersky Lab brand and help fuel further awareness of our internationally acknowledged products and services in 20 markets across the region,” said Eugene Kaspersky, CEO and co-founder of Kaspersky Lab.
Headed by Tarek Kuzbari, the new office will service countries in North Africa, West Asia, GCC and the Levant.
At a press conference to announce the launch, Kuzbari stated that the Middle East is showing a lot of promise despite the global economic slowdown, revealing that the company witnessed a growth rate of 400% in the region compared to last year.
Kuzbari went on to add that Kaspersky’s strategy for its Middle East arm of operations was to build a better local presence, increase brand awareness and develop a partner community.
Kaspersky Lab aims to be one of the top 3 anti-virus companies in the Middle East in terms of revenue by the year 2010.
