Starwood’s Saudi onslaught

Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide has announced three new hotels in Saudi Arabia. The group has signed a long-term management agreement with the Alhokair Group to open Four Points by Sheraton Mall of Arabia in Jeddah, Four Points by Sheraton Dhahran and Aloft Riyadh.

With the addition of these three properties, Starwood’s portfolio will increase to 13 hotels in Saudi Arabia.

Four Points by Sheraton Mall of Arabia is scheduled to open in early 2010, close to the King Abdul Aziz International Airport in Jeddah. The 300-room hotel will provide direct access to the Mall of Arabia and will feature more than 3000 square feet of meeting space.

The 236-room Four Points by Sheraton Dhahran is expected to open in early 2011 at the intersection of Prince Faisal Bin Fahd Road and King Saud Road in Dhahran. The hotel will be close to the Mall of Dhahran and the King Fahd International Airport.

Aloft Riyadh will open in 2011, following the opening of Aloft Abu Dhabi in 2009. Situated in the Olaya district, Aloft Riyadh will offer 225 rooms and easy access to Riyadh’s commercial and shopping hubs.
