Billion Dirham Habtoor project for Palm

Habtoor Hotels have announced work has started on the AED 1.2 billion (326 million USD) hotel project on The Palm, Jumeirah.
Rahim Abu Omar chief executive of Habtoor Hotels, announced that Al Habtoor Engineering Enterprises has started building works on The Habtoor Island Resort & Spa which is to be situated on the Palm Jumeirah.
Commenting on this venture Omar said: “Very soon the Habtoor Island Resort & Spa will rise to its splendour. It will be the 7th hotel property under Habtoor Hotels’ management, expected to open its doors to welcome guests in 2011”.
The resort will feature 217 rooms and suites, 91 luxurious apartments and four exclusive villas. The rooms and suites will be spread over the whole area, some with private swimming pools and gardens, and all with natural tropical plant barriers giving the impression of living in a tropical forest with plants specially imported.
There are to be 10 themed restaurants and bars, including a floating seafood restaurant and a rooftop fine dining restaurant. Conference and banquet facilities include two ballrooms, multi-functional rooms and fitted boardrooms spread across 2,350 sq m.
