InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) will develop Syria’s first Holiday Inn in the capital Damascus, after signing and exclusive agreement with Hedley International Syria.
The Holiday Inn Damascus Old City is due for completion in early 2011. The 300-room property will be close to the city’s commercial and business districts and within walking distance to historical landmarks.
Designed for business and leisure travellers, the hotel will feature an all-day restaurant, specialty restaurant, lobby bar and nightclub, as well as three meeting rooms and a full business centre.
This agreement follows the development announcement of the Inter Continental Damascus earlier this year.
Owner and chairman of Hedley International Syria Mohammed Al Refaey said the Syrian Government’s heavy investment in tourism offered great potential to grow the hospitality sector throughout the country.
