A new $54 million shopping mall is set to open its doors in Ras Al Khaimah in December and the company behind it said on Tuesday it was also planning retail outlets in Fujairah and Oman.

Ras Al Khaimah Safeer Shopping Mall, which comprises 100 shops, is due to open to the public in the first week of December - to coincide with an extended retail season in the country marked by the UAE National Day, Eid Al Adha, Christmas and New Year.

The two-level complex aims to offer brands at affordable prices and includes Damas, Springfield, Mother Care, Face Shop, Starbucks, Nando's, Pizza Hut, KFC, UAE Exchange, Emirates Identity authority, News Center, Safeer Hypermarket and Safeer Department stores.

Parking facilities have also been provided for 1,200 vehicles.

It is the latest retail offering from the one billion dirham conglomerate Al Safeer Group which also manages Dubai's Century Mall, Safeer Mall, Sharjah, and Ajman.

Also part of the group are more than 40 hypermarkets, 30 boutique stores in fashion and lifestyle, home furnishings and gift ideas and footwear, and five family entertainment centres, including Space City, the largest in the UAE.

Mahesh Kalwani, executive director of Al Safeer Group, said: "Al Safeer Group is also pushing ahead with its plans to open new malls in the UAE and the Gulf, including the Century Mall taking shape in Fujairah and Safeer Mall in Sohar (Oman)."
