An expert has warned companies in the Middle East that virtualization involves a radical change in their operations and business mindset, and is not just limited to a technical implementation.
“Virtualization is not just a technology. It is a paradigm shift in the way you do business,” said Hakan Gökalp, practice manager of Infrastructure Consulting at EMC, Middle East. “With the concept of virtualization you have to keep the people aspect, process aspect and technology aspect in the picture,”
Regional companies need to have a clear strategy that identifies priorities and assesses the impact of virtualization on their operations.
“It’s important that you have a strategy that supports virtualization and you don’t use virtualization as shortcut if you don’t have the correct processes in place,” commented Gökalp.
Gökalp was the keynote speaker at the ITP 2008 Virtualisation conference, which will run from November 25 - 26, 2008. Showcasing business and technology solutions, the conference also explores current challenges and developments in the field.
