The company behind Boujis, the famous London private member's club popular with celebrities and the capital’s social elite including Princes William and Harry, is launching a venue in Dubai, Arabian Business can reveal.

The move is part of a push by the owner, Matt Hermer, to build the brand the overseas.

Ignite Group, the private entertainment company which owns Boujis, is also opening a club in Barcelona, Spain, next year.

Former ABN Amro investment banker Hermer, the founder and managing director of Ignite, which owns Boujis as well a string of other high end London clubs and restaurants told Arabian Business: “In London, Ignite have an eclectic mix of restaurant, bar and nightclub brands that attract glamorous customers.

"Dubai has a great buzz and dynamism about it and we would like to find a site there that will dovetail with the group's international expansion plans."

Hermer started Eclipse Bar Ventures in 1998 - later becoming Ignite- after spotting a market for top-end cocktail bars in London.

Boujis opened in 2002 and established itself as one of the most sought after destinations in the heart of the trendy London borough of South Kensington.

He is yet to decide the name for the venue in Dubai, which will open in the middle of next year.

Dubai has a booming hotel and tourism industry along with a large party-loving expatriate community.

Last week the UAE was named alongside Croatia and China as the top three emerging tourist destinations in the world by global brand consultancy group FutureBrand.
