HP has given its Middle East Imaging and Printing Group (IPG) a management makeover by announcing a series of executive promotions.

The vendor, which draws a large potion of its profits from sales of printing equipment and consumables, believes the new structure will provide it with a stronger platform from which to execute its ‘Print 2.0’ strategy.

HP’s IPG structure will now consist of four groups, led by long-serving general manager Amr Hassan. This includes inkjet and web solutions; laser and enterprise business solutions; graphics solutions; and enterprise sales and services.

Asad Syed will head the inkjet and web solutions business, which also involves handling the retail channel for both consumer IPG and PSG products, while Ernest Azzam is overseeing the laser and enterprise business, including all MFPs and Edgeline products that previously went through its enterprise go-to-market.

Prateek Dayal, meanwhile, has been put in charge of enterprise sales and services. As well as driving demand for IPG solutions to enterprise customers, including the public sector, Dayal’s team will hold responsibility for managing the managed print services P&L, vertical industries and Solution Partner Programme within the region.

Amr Hassan, who will head the graphics solutions unit in addition to his existing role, claims the creation of the new management team reflects the “continuing evolution and success” of the printing business in the Middle East.

“As the HP Imaging and Printing business unit, we have struck a chord with our customers in the region, advancing their experience, materialising their documentation and reinforcing the importance of quality printing,” he said. “Our new organisation and our vision will be driving our business towards not only more growth in the region but mostly towards an enhanced customer focused approach.”
