The Ministry of Education in Qatar has asked private schools to limit the number of students in each class to 30.
Masoud Ali Mubarak, inspector of private schools, said the ministry’s directive had been sent to all private and community schools in the country.
“We have asked these schools not to put more than 25 students in a kindergarten class and to limit the strength to 30 in all other sections. This is to avoid crowding in the classrooms and provide a healthy learning environment to students,” said Mubarak in comments published in Qatar daily The Peninsula on Monday.
He told the paper the department had been conducting regular inspections in private schools to ensure they abide by the standards and requirements set by the ministry.
“We inspect all the facilities in the school, including bathrooms, toilets and canteens. If any violation of the rules is found, we would issue warnings to the school to rectify the problem within a specific time frame,” said Mubarak.
He said two private schools were recently issued notices to shift to new premises because the buildings were in a bad condition.
