Nokia has revealed the ‘world’s most advanced mobile computer’ – the Nokia N97, which enthusiasts believe will offer real competition to existing smartphone favourites Apple iPhone, RIM Blackberry and the Google Phone.
With a tilting touch display, full QWERTY keyboard and a personalized home screen, Nokia plans to mimic the computer experience on its mobile device.
“From the desktop to the laptop and now to your pocket, the Nokia N97 is the most powerful, multi-sensory mobile computer in existence,” said Jonas Geust, vice president, heading Nokia Nseries.
The 16:9 widescreen display can be customized to include preferred widgets, web services and social networking websites.
Aside from an impressive 5 megapixel camera, the Nokia N97 also incorporates ‘So-Lo’ (social location) where integrated A-GPS sensors and an electronic compass will allow the mobile device to instinctively know where it is, all the time.
It’s expected to arrive in the Middle East early next year and while no regional prices are made available presently, the N97 has an estimated retail price of EUR 550.
