A number of factories were damaged when a huge fire broke out in the freezone area of Fujairah on Thursday night.
The emirate's ruler Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, was in attendance to see the major operation to bring the flames under control, news agency WAM reported on Friday.
A team of experts from the Interior Ministry is currently carrying out its investigations into the cause of the fire.
The Civil defence, the Fujairah Police, Public Works Department and the Fujairah Municipality combined to battle the fire for more than four hours in the night.
Officials said no-one was killed during the incident which left a number of factories damaged, causing material loss which has yet to be calculated.
Sherif Habib Al Awadhi, director general of Freezone Fujairah, the emirate's industrial centre, said that the fire broke out at around 10.30pm on Thursday night.
He said that without the urgent action to bring the fire under control, flames could have swept the entire area causing a major disaster.
