The 60,000sqm complex in the Sabhan area will house 3,000 workers, Hussam Tahous, Assistant Undersecretary for Construction Engineering, was quoted as saying.
The ministry has also tendered a project to construct another complex in the Al-Shedadiah area.
The 100,000sqm structure will provide housing for up to 9,000 workers.
The MSAL recently received a written request from the municipality to allocate three locations for the construction of complexes to house 9,000 workers, Al-Tahous added.
He added that the residential complexes were designed to provide workers with entertainment facilities and limit crime.
