One dead, nine injured in Eid crashes

At least one person was killed and nine others were injured in separate road accidents in the past two days, Dubai police said on Wednesday.

A woman was killed and four others injuries in a four-car collision in Al-Qusais Industrial Area 2 in front of Dubai Abattoir on Wednesday morning, UAE daily Gulf News reported.

Police said the accident took place at 10am when a vehicle driven by an Arab woman enterd a road with taking proper care and collided with three other vehicle. The woman was pronounced dead on the scene while four others sustained moderate to serious injuries and were taken to the hospital, the paper said.

The accident caused long tailbacks on the roads leading to the abattoir and the surrounding area, with police cordoning off the area to clear the accident site.

On Tuesday, five people suffered moderate injuries when a car entering a roundabout hit another car, the paper also reported.

Police said the driver of the car who caused the accident was speeding, it said.
