Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat) is enhancing its mobile services hub in the UAE to help meet growing demand for high quality mobile broadband connectivity, the company revealed on Tuesday.

The UAE telecoms giant said it will provide a comprehensive range of services, including roaming aggregation and replication, clearing house services, and signaling.

Etisalat said that it expects mobile broadband to become an increasingly important growth segment in 2009 for the telecoms business, driving the need for high capacity and quality of service.

“All operators, mobile, fixed-line and alternative wireless providers are today looking to establish a foothold in this sector,” Ali Amiri, executive vice president of Etisalat’s carrier and wholesale services told an audience of 2,500 professionals at the GSM 3G Middle East Conference.

Etisalat will also support new internet service providers (ISPs) with managed international connectivity to offer a better service to its growing community of internet customers.

“As consumers increasingly gain the ability to access more and more services anywhere, over any device, the demand on the operator to be able to provision and deliver quality coverage will also grow,” Amiri added.

“This will drive the creation of mobile hubs, where operators can access a variety of services from one intermediate, rather than being forced to develop relationships with hundreds of operators around the world,” he said.
